The Martian equator is surprisingly bereft of ice. Researchers used information from NASA’s Mars InSight lander to seek for underground ice and pure mineral cements that type when water seeps underground, and so they discovered little or no proof for both – which could make looking for indicators of previous life on Mars even harder.
